MONITORING AND COMPARISON OF FATIGUE STATE OF COWPERS

Cowpers are subject to high stresses during operation, resulting in fatigue cracking which can result in stoppage in production. Fatigue cracking is always consequence of microstructure degradation and thus is easy detectable by coercimetry methods much earlier than by flaw-detection methods. In emergency situation coercimetry can be the only solution for definition of order of repairing priority.

Upon cowper No 3 bursting comparison of fatigue state of cowpers No 1, No 2 and No 4 was critical for repairing order and operation mode definition. The solution was founded by coercimetry monitoring.
